Lucknow: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait on Monday said farmers', agitating for the past eight months pressing for withdrawal of three contentious farm laws, will turn Lucknow into Delhi and intensify stir till their demands are met.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Tikait said, "Till all these new farm laws are not withdrawn, the farmers' movement will not end. We will turn Lucknow like Delhi where all the roads will be blocked by the ryots."
The Samyukta Kisan Morch will hold a Maha Panchayat in Muzaffarnagar on September 5, he announced.
'We have decided to launch a big farmers' stir in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand before the coming Assembly polls in these state."
"In Uttar Pradesh, sugarcane rate has not been increased for four years, 12,000 crore rupees are still outstanding as dues of farmers. Electricity is free for farmers in several states, but in UP the power tariffs are the highest,' he alleged. (UNI)
