New Delhi: We all know about the impact of political cartooning but if we want to go in details about the subject, the research leads us nowhere. However, there is good news for those who really want to get some worth, some reference about the Indian Political Cartooning. TV Journalist Dr. Praveen Tiwari has done his Ph.D. on Indian Political Cartooning.
It was the very first Ph.D. Done by any journalism researcher in 2007 from DAVV Indore. This research was done under the Guidance of Dr. Man Singh Parmar who’s the Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thackrey Journalism University. This thesis is now going to be published in a book form and it’s preface was already written by legendary cartooning Late. Shri Sudhir Tailang.
Tailang himself wanted to do some research work of Indian Political cartooning, but he is in our memories now but his wish is completed by Dr. Praveen Tiwari. He had done a Ph.D. on the desired subject of Political Cartooning in Mass Communication with special reference to Indian Context. This Ph.D. Was Awarded by DAVV Indore in 2007. In this way this has become the first ever Ph.D. on the subject of political cartooning as a tool of mass communication in India. This thesis proves that political cartooning is a strong tool of journalism.
Dr. Tiwari is a writer also and he has written four books till date. Soon his Ph.D. on cartooning is going to get published in a book form. This thesis contains interviews of Late R. K. Laxman, Late Sudhir Tailang, Unny, Shekhar Gurera, Ismail Lehari, Rajendra Dhodapkar and many more pioneers of Indian Cartooning. It also contains important information about the Indian History of Political cartooning along with the brief biographies of legends like Shankar, Abu, Ranga, Vijayan etc.
Everybody considers that political cartooning is a strong tool of Journalism but due to lack of awareness and lack of editorial importance this art form is gradually dying in Indian Journalism. The writer has dedicated this book to the memory of cartooning legend late Sudhir tailing.
