New Delhi: What is seen as score-leveling bid by Congress after losing to BJP, its stalwart leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi in Uttar Pradesh, the grand old party has succeeded in making the loss good by drawing into its fold two Jat heavy-weights of Rajasthan--former Union Minister Subhash Maharia and ex-MP Dr Hari Singh. "The duo is joining the Congress formally at the AICC here today and a formal announcement about their induction in the party will be made later this afternoon", a senior party functionary told UNI here.

Congress state President Sachin Pilot and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Rameshwar Dudi have brought the two leaders to the national capital here. Three time Lok Sabha MP Mr Maharia has been Member in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee led Government had also held organisational posts in the BJP for long. He was disillusioned with the saffron outfit since 2014 Lok Sabha polls following denial of party ticket from Sikar.

Dr Hari Singh, a renowned surgeon, and a former MP from Sikar had quit his government job in the SMS Medical College of Jaipur to join politics in 1977 as a member of the Janta Dal and later got elected to the Rajasthan state assembly. During his long political career he had changed parties and remained in the BJP and Congress too. He had served as Minister both in the then BJP and the Congress led Governments. (UNI)
