New Delhi: The Issue of the frequent absence of nominated members was today raised in the Rajya Sabha. Naresh Agrawal of the Samajwadi Party raised the matter soon after the House met for the day. Referring to the frequent absence of nominated members, said they should resign from the House if they were not interested. "We have been yearning for the presence of the nominated members.

They never come to the house. The entire session is over but we haven't seen them, Mr Agrawal said . "If they are not coming, this means they have no interest in attending (Parliament). If they don't have interest, then they should resign," he said. Nominated members like Rekha and SachinTendulkar have faced frequent criticism for their low attendance in the House.

Besides Rekha and Tendulkar, the 12 nominated members to the Upper House include Olympian boxer M C Mary Kom, journalist Swapan Dasgupta and businesswoman Anu Aga. (UNI)
