Gang-rape victim acid attacked in police protection

Lucknow: A gangrape victim, who was given police protection, was attacked with acid by criminals here in the post Aligang area of the state capital. The victim, a native of Rae Bareli, was staying at a girls hostel in Aligang area and was taking a bucket of water to her first floor room when someone poured acid on her last night. She was immediately rushed to Trauma Centre.
The victim, who was gangraped in Rae Bareli, was forced to drink acid on a running train in March. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had met the girl at the KGMU hospital at the time and had ordered police protection for her. Doctors attending the victim said she was out of danger, adding that she had sustained some burn injuries on the right side of her face and shoulder .
ADG (Lucknow Zone) Abhay Prasad and IG(Lucknow range) J N Singh have rushed to Trauma Centre this morning to enquire about the incident and talked to the victim. DSP( Aligang) Vivek Tripathi said that the incident occurred around 2000 hrs. He said that the gunner provided to the victim was sitting outside the gate but the incident occurred inside the building. However, they were interrogating the gunner Sandeep and other persons at the girl hostel.
The girl, in the past, had alleged that Bhondu Singh and Guddu Singh of Rae Bareli, had gangraped her and an FIR was filed against them. Police arrested them but they later got bail from the court. (UNI)
