New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The Centre today told the Supreme Court that if it abolished Triple Talaq, it would bring in a new law on the issue.
Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi, top law officer representing the Centre, told the five-judge Constitution Bench of the court, headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, that if the apex court completely struck down Triple Talaq, the Centre would bring a new law on the issue.
We all know the Supreme Court has been hearing on the issue of Triple Talaq. The issue itself, which is fundamentally connected to the much debated quesion of Common Civil Code, has been constantly making headlines recently.
