Kolkata: Banking on the two edged weapons of spin and seam, Team India led by Virat Kohli took an invincible lead against kiwis in the test series of three test matches by 2-0. Proceeding from the overnight score of 228- 8, Indian tailenders supported Wriddhiman Saha, who scored not out fifty plus score (58) in second innings too. India made 263 and a mammoth target of 376 runs was set for black caps. India also dethroned Pakistan from ICC test team ranking and cemented its rank till England series.
Kiwis had the first fifty run opening partnership of the series and it looked like the team will display a better batting performance. However, except Tom Latham (76) no one was able to adapt the pitch conditions which offered variable bounce and turn. From 104-1 the whole team bundled out for 197. India won the Kolkata test by 178 runs. Earlier, India needed to win the ongoing series against the Black Caps by 2-0 or more to regain the top position and had already won the first Test at Kanpur by 197 runs. The final test will be played in Indore from October 8th.
