New Delhi:The NIA Speical Court at Patiala House, New Delhi has sentenced an ISIS terrorist to rigorous imprisonment (RI) for seven years and fine of Rs 40,000 in the ISIS conspiracy case of Delhi, the probe agency said here.
The accused was identified as Mohamed Naser, a B Tech (IT) and certified Ethical Hacker from Chennai, who was working as Web Developer and Graphic Designer in Dubai in 2014.

He got radicalised and motivated to join ISIS through the lectures delivered on YouTube by Islamic scholars,  namely Anjem Choudary and Abu Barra.

''Mohamed Naser was fully convinced that ISIS was following the true edicts of Islam and struggling to create a Caliphate, to be governed on the basis of Sharia.

''He came across some online handlers and left Dubai to join ISIS for Libya via Sudan. But, he was interdicted by the Sudanese authorities and deported to India on December 10, 2015,'' the agency added.

The case was registered at NIA, New Delhi on December 9, 2015 under Section 125 of IPC and Sections 18, 18B, 38 and  39 of UA(P) Act, 1967, pertaining to criminal conspiracy hatched by the ISIS to establish its base in India by recruiting Muslim youth for ISIS, a proscribed terrorist organisation, through different social media platforms.

As a result, a few known and other unknown Indian youths expressed their solidarity, allegiance and support to ISIS in different forms and left India or their place of residence for abroad and joined ISIS under the influence of persistent indoctrination by their handlers.

The anti-terror probe agency, after completion of investigation, had filed charge sheets against 16 accused including Mohd Naser on June 3 this year.

In this case, 15 accused have already been convicted up to 10 years RI by the NIA Special Court on October 16, 2020 for the conspiracy hatched by ISIS handlers based in Syria and subsequent formation of group, namely 'Junood-ul-Khilafa-fil-Hind,' owing its allegiance to ISIS.
Trial continues against charge-sheeted accused Imran Khan, the NIA officials said.(UNI)
