Kozhikode: Strongly criticizing the Centre move on Uniform Civil Code and Triple Talaq, Indian Union Muslim League, a partner in the Congress-led United Democratic Front in Kerala, today said the Law Commission's initiative on consultation on the issue was suspicious. Briefing mediapersons after a party meet here, the IUML National Treasurer and former Kerala Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty said the move was not aimed at bringing justice to all. Urging secular parties to come out with their stand on the issue, he said it was for religious leaders to express their opinion on the issue.
Stating it was inappropriate to blame religious outfits for backing terror modules in the country, he said the Sangh Parivar was implementing their agenda by cashing in on the issue. He said the meet had decided to strengthen the party's fight against terrorism in the country, adding the IUML was against any efforts that could hinder secular credentials of the nation. On UDF, he said all issues relating to the Opposition front would be discussed in its meet scheduled on October 17.(UNI)
