J&K: Arms, ammunition airdropped from drone in Samba, wireless set, other material recovered in Poonch

Jammu: Security forces on Friday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition airdropped from a drone in Samba district while wireless sets and other material was seized in Poonch district in two separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that the joint teams of police and army have recovered two Chinese pistols, rounds and other material from a field on Friday morning in the bordering Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A senior police officer said that troops of JAKLI and Police were searching the general area in Babbar Nullah of Sarthian village of Rajpura in Ghagwal belt of district Samba this morning.
"One gunny bag wrapped in with plastic tape was found," he said adding that on search, two Pistols, five Magazines,122 rounds, one silencer, pitthu bag and one blank pipe like IED were found in the packet.
"Recovery of silencer this time is a concern," he expressed.
"Initially it seems that weapons are airdropped and it cannot be ruled out but it is a matter of investigation," Rajesh Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba said.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday morning recovered two wireless communication sets, batteries and some torches during an operation that was launched near a sheep farm in the Balnoi area of Poonch district.
"The operation was launched based on a some specific information by SOG and Mendhar police near sheep farm in Balnoi," they said.
“During searches two wireless communication sets, batteries and torches were recovered which have been taken into possession by the police,” they said, adding that further operation was going on in the area. (UNI)
