Srinagar: Historic Jamia masjid was again locked to prevent any Friday congregation in the Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), where a large number of security forces and state police personnel had been deployed since early this morning.
Both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the agitation, since July 9, have appealed people to hold post “Friday Freedom Congregation”. The separatists had given relaxation for three days in strike from tomorrow. However, there will be no relaxation in the strike today.
After allowing Friday prayers for the past two weeks since July 9, the main gates of historic Masjid, stronghold of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, were again closed this morning. (UNI)
