Jawan uploads poor food videos, BSF orders inquiry

New Delhi: Director General of BSF K K Sharma today ordered an inquiry into the allegations about low quality food being supplied to jawans, after one of them took the issue to the social media and his facebook upload went viral. The DG told a TV channel that the jawan might have some problem and action will be taken if his allegations are found true. Soon after the video of the Jawan went viral, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, taking cognizance asked the Home Secretary to seek report from the BSF and take necessary action. Mr Singh tweeted, "I have seen a video regarding a BSF jawan's plight. (pic- social media)
 

I have asked the HS to immediately seek a report from the BSF & take appropriate action". Meanwhile, the DG also said that the jawan had some complaints of indiscipline against him in the past also. The jawan in the post had also alleged that seniors were selling the supplies meant for soldiers in the market and the government was not to blame. "He said that jawans despite living in worst-possible conditions were given only one 'paratha' in the breakfast and that too without any curry, or pickle. With 'paratha', the jawan alleged that they are served a cup of tea. He also complained about the poor quality 'daal and roti' being served to them. He had urged the Prime Minister to look into the matter. (UNI)
