Lucknow :Janata Dal (United) has sacked its Uttar Pradesh President Suresh Bhaiyya Niranjan, for indiscipline after he announced party's support to the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance. Party's National General Secretary KC Tyagi has sacked Niranjan for his announcement of supporting the SP- Congress alliance. "This is a gross indiscipline and it would not be tolerated at any cost," he said in a statement here today.
JD (U) President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had earlier said that he would not support anyone in UP polls was peeved over Niranjan's announcement in Lucknow on February 11 that the party has decided to support the alliance. Immediately thereafter, Nitish in Patna had contradicted the announcement and said that his party was not supporting the SP-Congress alliance.
However, Niranjan said that the action against him by the party leadership was unwarranted as his decision was to strengthen the secular forces in UP like the party did in Bihar. Niranjan said that he is still a soldier of the JD (U) and will try to convince the party leadership over the issue. (UNI)
