Bengaluru: Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and wife Sudha Murthy cast their votes in one of the Jayanagar polling stations this morning in the Karnataka assembly election.

In an inspiring act to exercise his franchise, Murthy returned to India from a trip abroad this morning, and reached the polling booth to vote in the election.

"It is the duty of every citizen to exercise this responsibility with a lot of care and deep thought. I am very grateful that I had this opportunity. I just came back this morning from abroad and I am very happy that I had this opportunity," he told reporters after casting his vote.

Murthy hopes that through this election Bengaluru becomes one of the best places in the world to live and pursue education, among other things.

"My hope is that for my grandchildren this place will be one of the best places in the world to live; to pursue their career; to pursue their education, and add value to the society, that's our hope," he said.

Murthy also hoped that the poorest child in the remotest village in India has access to decent education, healthcare and education.

"And secondly, we all hope (that) the poorest child in the remotest village in India has access to decent education; decent healthcare; decent education and hope that the child's grandchildren will have a better future than theirs," he said. (UNI)
