Kashmir unrest: 59 casualties, 1000 youths held, 1018 clashes reported in 30 days

New Delhi :Over 1000 people, mostly youth, have been arrested in the last 30 days in Kashmir valley, where 58 people, including two policemen, were killed in 1018 clashes between security forces and protestors since July 9. Meanwhile, and 3329 security force personnel and over 3500 civilians have been injured since July 9, a day after the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander
 

Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district. A police spokesperson here this evening said, baring two incidents of stone pelting where miscreants attacked security forces at Warpora and Nowpora in Sopore, the situation in the Valley today remained peaceful.

“Since July 2016, 3329 personnel from Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been injured while maintaining law and order in the Valley,” he said. He said out of these injured personnel, many have suffered grievous injuries, including multiple fractures, adding two police personnel also were killed in the violent protests in the Valley.

“In all, 1018 incidents of violence were reported during this period. 1030 FIRs stands registered in different police stations of the Valley,” he said. He said 29 installations ,including police stations, police posts and other government establishments were set ablaze and 51 damaged by the protestors. “More than 1000 accused persons have been arrested in different police stations of the Valley.
