New Delhi: A day after Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken demanded that the forthcoming MCD polls be held through ballot paper instead of Electronic Voting Machines, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed Chief Secretary to write to the Election Commission urging the same. Sources said today that Mr Kejriwal has directed Delhi Chief Secretary to write to EC to conduct MCD polls through paper ballot system instead of EVMs. "I want @ArvindKejriwal to hold MCD elections through BallotPapers," the Congres chief tweeted yesterday.

In another tweet he said, 'Delhi PCC is writing a letter to Kejriwal to hold MCD elections on the ballot papers! Not prejudiced-nor casting aspersions on recent elections. The Congress and Aam Aadmi Party's demand comes close on the heels after BSP supremo Mayawati had cast doubts over voting through EVMs in the recent Uttar Pradesh polls. Notably, the State Election Commission will hold a press conference today at around 1700 hrs on the MCD polls. (UNI)
