Low Pressure persists, to reach North TN coast tomorrow, heavy rains forecast for Chennai

Chennai: The Low Pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal moved further westwards, lay centred over southeast and adjoining southwest bay and persisted over the same region.
Met office today said it is likely to move nearly westwards and reach west-central and adjoining southwest bay of bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining North Tamil Nadu coasts by tomorrow.
The yesterday’s trough from the cyclonic circulation associated with low pressure area over East-central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast to the Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal now runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with the low pressure area over East central Arabian Sea off Goa-south Maharashtra coasts to south Tamil Nadu and extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level.
Tamil Nadu is expected to get rains for the next four days till November 20.
Under its influence, thunderstorm with heavy to very rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore and Chengalpattu districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Thunderstorm with heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Madurai, Sivaganga, delta districts, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Virudhunagar, Pudukottai, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Tenkasi, Ariyalur districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
Moderate rain is also likely to occur at most places over rest of the districts of Tamil Nadu.
Thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy with isolated extremely heavy rain is likely to occur over Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram and Ranipet districts of Tamil Nadu tomorrow when the systems reach the TN coast.
The Met office has issued a red alert (rainfall in excess of 20 cm) to these districts.
Thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chengalpattu, Tirupattur and Vellore districts of Tamil Nadu. Thunderstorm with heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places over Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Kallakurichi and Puducherry, besides moderate rain at most places over rest of the districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal area.
In Chennai, the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Scattered heavy to very heavy with isolated extremely heavy rain is likely to occur for the next 48 hrs. (UNI)
