LS suspends Bhagwant Mann for the rest of Winter Session
New Delhi: The Lok Sabha today adopted a motion suspending AAP member Bhagwant Mann for the remaining period of the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament for 'breach' of Parliament security. The motion was moved by Kirit Somaiya, chairman of the nine-member panel set up by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, after the Sangrur MP from Punjab courted a controversy by uploading a video of the Parliament premises on the social networking site.
Mr Somaiya said due to his conduct, the AAP MP "may be suspended for the remaining period of the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament".The Speaker then put the motion to vote which was adopted amid sloganeering of Opposition members protesting over demonetisation issue.
The report of the panel tabled in Lok Sabha yesterday said,'The Committee firmly are of the opinion that act of videography and live streaming it on social media by Mann has resulted in breach of Parliament security and is a conduct unbecoming of a member. (UNI)
