Maharashtra: Thief murdered by his partner after dispute over division of stolen loot in Nashik

Nashik: A 22-year-old young thief was allegedly murdered by his accomplice with a pointed knife at Someshwar Colony area of the city over a dispute on distribution of stolen goods.
On Wednesday morning, there was a dispute among a gang of four thieves over distribution of stolen goods, at that time, police said.
During argument over the matter, accused Atul Ajay Singh hurled a stone at the victim, Pawan Nathu Pagare, and later he stabbed and killed him with a chopper, while their other two accomplices escaped on a two-wheeler.
At the same time, a vehicle of the nearby Gangapur Police Crime Investigation Squad reached the spot.
On seeing the approaching police vehicle, Atul started fleeing from the spot with a large knife in his hand, but was caught by female police officer Sarla Khairnar, who arrived there on a two-wheeler.
The police squad arrested Atul, while Pawan, lying in a pool of blood, died on the spot.
Then, the squad reported incident to the police control room, following which senior police officials, police commissioner Jayant Naik, also arrived at the spot.
Police along with forensic team conducted a 'panchnama' and collected evidence, sources added. (UNI)
