Militant killed in encounter by security forces in north Kashmir

Srinagar: A militant was killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in north Kashmir district of Baramulla early this morning, official sources said here today. They said on a tip-off, security forces and state police personnel conducted a search operation at Tarzoo, Sopore, in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, late last night.

However, when the security forces were sealing the area, militants opened fire on them, they said, adding that in the retaliatory fire, a militant was killed. The slain militant was identified as Umar Khatab, sources said, adding that some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the slain militant. The operation has ended, they said, adding that additional security forces have been rushed to the spot. (UNI)
