Mithun Chakroborty offers to quit Rajya Sabha membership

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP and actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakroborty has "offered to resign" his membership from the Rajya Sabha due to health reasons, sources said here today.

"He has not resigned but only offered to withdraw his membership from the House of elders on health ground," a source close to the actor-turned-politician told UNI.The source said, Chakroborty, who has been sometime back in the eye of storm over Saradha chit fund scam, has made his offer to the Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari in "an e-mail communication".

"Honourable MP has informed the chairman that he has not been able to attend the session.
He is further advised rest due to health reasons and hence if the House desires, he can withdraw his membership," the source said. (UNI)
