Mumbai Test: England 288/5 on stumps on day 1

Mumbai: The Alastair Cook-led England side posted a brilliant 288 runs for the loss of five wickets on day 1 of the fourth test against India at the Wankhede Stadium here this evening.The visitors dominated the hosts for almost two sessions as debutant Keaton Jennings slammed his first ton of career while middle-order batsman Moeen Ali hit 50 off 104 deliveries.

On the other hand for India, number one test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin once again produced a magical spell to push the visitors on back-foot after claiming four wickets.Choosing to bat first, England posted were 117 runs for the loss of one wicket as debutant Jennings and skipper Cook dominated India's erratic bowling from the beginning.

Jennings knocked a classy 50 in the morning session and received a good support from the skipper, who missed his half century by four runs.Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Cook (46) and also broke a 99 run partnership for the opening wicket. (UNI)
