Kendrapara: A school teacher was apprehended by Mahakalapada police for allegedly outraging the modesty of a class 10 girl student during school hours.
Kendrapara Superintendent of Police Madkar Sandeep Sampat on Saturday said the accused teacher was arrested by police while he was hiding in Bhubaneswar.
The SP who was monitoring the case, after a hue and cry by the locals demanding the arrest of the teacher, said acting on a tip-off from reliable sources, a Special Police squad conducted a raid and nabbed him from Bhubaneswar.
The accused Biswambar Parida, a mathematics teacher, of a school under Mahakalapada police limit allegedly outraged the modesty of the girl on July 18 inside the classroom.
He then threatened the minor girl not to disclose the matter. The girl, however, narrated the incident to her parents.
She even drew the attention of the school headmaster on July 20. The victim’s father later lodged an FIR at Mahakalapada police station against the teacher on July 21.
The police, however, failed to arrest the accused teacher as he was absconding after the incident. Later, the DEO suspended the teacher.
The alleged victim girl last Wednesday wrote to the Chief justice of Orissa High court praying for his intervention into her matter and rejection of the bail petition of the teacher. (UNI)
