Pakistan heavily shells forward Indian posts, woman injured

Jammu: Pakistan for the fourth consecutive day today shelled forward Indian posts and villages by firing unprovoked on the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Pakistani Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 0415 hours in BG sector of Poonch along the Line of Control (LC)," a defence spokesperson here said.
He said that the Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively to cross border firing. Meanwhile, police sources said that a woman namely Naseem Akhter, wife of Ghayas Ahmed of Dharati, Balakote got seriously injured in the firing and has been hospitalised. A water tank was also reportedly damaged when hit by a mortar shell in Balakote area of Poonch. "The exchange of firing stopped at 0945 hours," sources said. (UNI)
