Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today said in the Assembly that those persons who are supporting Gurmehar Kaur for her campaign against the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) "are pro-Pakistan and should be thrown out of the country. The Minister, who was speaking on the fourth day of Budget Session here, said Gurmehar had not only killed the spirit of her father, who had laid down his life for the country, but had also given clean chit to Pakistan, which has time and again directly or indirectly attacked the country.

"Those who are supporting Gurmehar have no right to stay in the country." Expressing respect for martyrs and their family members, he said it would not be tolerated if any member of such families becomes a puppet of those who harbour traitorous intentions. Reiterating that he did not hold any personal grudge towards Gurmehar, Mr Vij said it was a matter of sorrow that she was indulging in politics over her father’s martyrdom, as he was respected by the entire nation. No evidence had been found against members of the ABVP regarding issuance of threats to Gurmehar. “However, in case any such matter comes to light, I condemn it,” he added. (UNI)
