PM hails Venkaiah

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hailed the entry of Mr M Venkaiah Naidu as new Vice-President of the country and new Chairman of the Rajya Sabha as a proof of the maturity of the Indian democracy in which the three top posts of the country were for the first time held by people who came from a humble background. Today was the first day of Mr Naidu in the Upper House where he drove to straight from Rashtrapati Bhawan after being sworn in as 15th Vice-President.
 

Immediately after Mr Naidu was welcomed with resounding greetings of 'Jai Hind' and 'Jai Sri Ram' on his entry in the House of which he is the Chairman by virtue of his office, the Prime Minister rose up to convey to him the good wishes of the House and the people of the country. Mr Modi described him as a product of the House and a person who risen from the grass roots. 'Today for the first time top public posts are adorned by people who have were rooted to the soil, which itself reflects the respect for the spirit of the Constitution and maturity of the Indian democracy,' the Prime Minister said amidst thumping of desks by the Members.
