Policeman who gang-raped minor girl in police station arrested

Lucknow: A girl has been gangraped inside the Farukkhabad police lines by a policeman and his friend. On the directive of Superintendent of Police (Farrukhabad) Dayand Mishra, an FIR was registered against both the accused at Fatehgarh Kotwali police station yesterday under Sections 363, 376(D), 342 and 506 of the IPC, besides Section 5/6 of the POSCO Act. The SP said both the accused Upendra Tiwari and Police constable Ajay Kumar have been arrested.
Police said the 17-year-girl was going to her maternal uncle house from Shahajahanpur on a bus on Saturday when Upendra, who was known to the victim, asked her to come with him in a car, assuring to drop her at her uncle's house in Farrukhabad.
However, after the survivor joined them, Upendra, with the help of his friend Ajay Kumar, driver of Dail -100 police patrolling van, took the girl at the police lines in Farrukabad and gangraped her. Later, the girl fled from the clutches of the accused and went to the police station. Police, however, said the girl was known to Upendra and she joined them without any force. The family members of the girl had also registered a kidnapping case in Shahajahanpur.(UNI)
