Pune test: Starc fifty saves Oz from all out on day 1

Pune: An unbeaten last-wicket stand of 51 runs between Mitchell Starc & Josh Hazlewood helped Australia to reach 256/9 at the end of the first day of the ongoing first Test at the MCA stadium here this evening.Starc & Hazlewood were not out on 57 and 1 run respectively when stumps were drawn for the first day.
Resuming the final session of play from 153/4 after the tea break, the visitors received back to back jolts and lost another five wickets in quick succession.
Mitchell Marsh (4), who was unbeaten at the start of last session, could add another couple of runs as he was sent back by Ravindra Jadeja, who caught him before the wickets.Incoming batsman Mathew Wade (8) then added 24 runs for the sixth wicket with opener Matt Renshaw before Umesh Yadav striked to dismiss him.
