Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal was on Tuesday detained by police during a protest against the state government in Siswan.
The massive protest was led by the SAD chief near the residence of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, citing various ''scams'' in the state.
Security forces resorted to water cannons to disperse the agitators.
Accusing the government of indulging in corruption, Mr Badal said, ''If a storm rises, Captain won't be able to stop it, even if he uses all his force. There is a scam in vaccination, there is a scam in Fateh Kit, there is a scam in SC scholarship, farmers' land is being acquired.''
On Monday, Aam Aadmi Party had held an agitation outside the official residence of the CM against alleged misappropriation of post-matric scholarship funds.
Raising slogans against the incumbent government, the protestors led by party MLA and leader of opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, demanded removal of cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot.
Some of the party workers were briefly detained by the police. (UNI)
