Repolling begins in 38 seats of Manipur following discrepancy

Imphal: Repolling today began in 34 polling stations in 38 seats that went to polls on March 4 during the first phase of Manipur Assembly election after Election Commission (EC) had found malpractices in polling process, The voting pattern was ten percent for every hour. By 1000 hours the voting percentage was 30 percent. Voting began at 0700 hours and continue till 1500 hours.
The repoll was carried out in five polling stations of Andro Assembly Constituency, one in Uripok, 12 in Saikul, three in, six in Thanlon, five in Henglep, one in Saikot and Singhat. The weather was clear and there was no untoward incident so far. Security was tightened in all the polling stations. The first and second phase of elections witnessed 86 percent turnout. The second phase was held yesterday and repoll for the second phase has not yet been announced by the Election Commission. (UNI)
