Retired Brigadier assaulted in Bengaluru road rage incident

Bengaluru: In yet another incident of road rage, Ravi Muniswamy, a retired Brigadier, was allegedly assaulted and his car keys taken away by the perpetrators in Sanjaynagar here on Friday last.
 
In his complaint with Sanjaynagar police on Tuesday, Brigadier Muniswamy stated that he was stopped and assaulted by three occupants of another car when he was heading towards Kuvempu Circle from MS Ramaiah Hospital.
 
The perpetrators asked him to lower his window and alleged that they snatched the keys of his car and assaulted him due to which he sustained injuries.
 
Taking to X, Brigadier Muniswamy mentioned the deteriorating law and order situation in Bengaluru which warranted immediate attention from the authorities. "They were three people against one. They almost broke my back with the belt. The law and order situation in Bengaluru has hit rock bottom. If the Good Samaritan onlookers had not helped me, possibly there would have been a death on the roads of Bengaluru," he said.


 
The city police acknowledged the complaint and stated that it had been forwarded to the concerned police officers for necessary action. "We have forwarded your complaint to concerned police officers for necessary action," he said.
 
Brigadier Muniswamy had contested the last Assembly election from the Byatarayanapura constituency.
 
Given Brigadier Muniswamy's public profile and his previous involvement in politics, this incident is likely to attract significant attention and scrutiny. The police have registered an FIR on Monday and are actively searching for the perpetrators.
