SAD takes serious note of derogatory comments against Gujjar women in book on Himachal Pradesh

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal took serious note of derogatory comments against Gujjar women in book 'Himachal Pradesh: History, Culture and Economic condition', written by Mian Goverdhan Singh and translated by Dr Chaman Lal Gupta.
The party said that FIR should be registered against the author and translator and both should be arrested immediately for hurting sentiments of community members.
In a statement here, Senior Vice-President and Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said very shocking comments have been made in the book about Gujjar women. He said that these derogatory comments have deeply hurt sentiments of peace loving people in general and members of Gujjar community in particular.
The SAD leader said he was surprised that how a writer can define women in such a fashion when whole world is working on equal participation of women in established system.
He said that women today are leading many countries, companies and NGOs and even political parties and these comments have shocked everyone. He said that these have ashamed humanity and no right thinking person can ever make such derogatory comments against women whether they belong to any community of the world.
Dr Cheema urged Chief Ministers of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to order immediate registration of case against Author and translator of this book which has caused immense loss to repute of Gujjar women. (UNI)
