SC refuses to grant urgent hearing to demonetisation plea

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today refused to grant urgent hearing to a petition seeking a stay on the deposit of old currency notes by political parties of any amount unless true sources are not disclosed for entire amount. A bench, headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, refused to hear lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma's plea urgently and fixed the matter for further hearing till January 11, 2017.
 

Advocate Sharma knocked the doors of the Apex Court seeking a stay on the deposit of old currency notes by political parties of any amount for the present, past financial years unless true sources are not disclosed for entire amount. Political parties have the exemption of filing of the details of contribution below Rs 20,000 under the IT Act provision, Advocate Sharma claimed in his petition and sought the court's intervention for a stay into it, which the Apex Court decided to hear the matter on January 11,2017.
