Seven killed as jeep rolls down the gorge near Shimla

Shimla: Seven, including five members of a family, died in a road accident when their jeep carrying 12 people fell down 200 meter deep into a gorge at Antrali in this district, 140 km from this capital town. Police sources confirmed that rescue parties rushed from Nerwa of Chopal subdivision and recovered seven bodies from the spot and five seriously injured were referred to Indira Gandhi Medical Colleges Hospital here.
 

The victims, identified as residents of Shaudi village of Poanta Subdivision of Sirmaur district, were returning home after visiting Chourdhar, about 14,000 feet high Peak in Sirmaur district, midnight last night when the accident took place. The deceased were identified as Gandi Devi (43) wife of Kalayan Singh, Sushma(30), Nisha(25), Rivija(27) and Kailash(22), daughters and son of Kalyan Singh, Shivani(15) daughter of Narendar Singh and Gulab Singh (42) son of Moti Ram. Owner of Vehicle Kalayan Singh, including drivers were reported injured along with three others.

The jeep went uncontrollably when it was on NerwaGuma road near Antrali and fell down 200 meter deep gorge. The police handed over the bodies to their relatives after conducting postmortem. The police is conducting a probe to know the cause of the  accident. (UNI)
