Patna: An eerie silence gripped official residence of RJD chief Lalu Prasad here today after Income Tax (IT) raids at his premises in New Delhi and Gurugram. As soon as the reports of IT raids reached the state capital, mediapersons and camerapersons assembled outside the 10, Circular Road, official residence of Mr Prasad`s wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi. Meanwhile, senior advocate Chitranajan Sinha had been called to the residence of Mr Prasad.

RJD General Secretary and MLC Mundrika Singh Yadav also reached the residence to express his solidarity with the beleaguered Mr Prasad. JD (U) Spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said that he was not fully aware of IT raid at the premises of RJD president and so he would not make any comment on it. Another JD (U) spokesperson Dr Ajay Alok said that a senior BJP leader was making baseless allegations against RJD Chief Mr Prasad and his family members for the last 40 days.

He said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself said yesterday that BJP leaders should take action against Mr Prasad and his family members if they had any concrete evidences against them. He said the CM had also made a point that statements should not be made only for media publicity. Dr Alok said no conclusion could be derived from the IT raids at the RJD Chief Mr Prasad`s premises until it was known what was seized during the raids. (UNI)
