Stalin smells horse trading

Thursday, 16 February 2017 (15:06 IST)
Chennai, Feb 16 (UNI) Welcoming the appointment of Edappadi K Palaniswami as the next Chief Minister, DMK Working President and Leader of the Opposition M K Stalin today said the 15 day window given by Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao to prove his majority in the Assembly would lead to horse trading and urged him to take steps to prevent it.

Reacting to the Governor inviting Palaniswami to form the next government, ending the 10-day long political stalemate following the power struggle within the ruling AIADMK, Stalin told reporters here, 'though delayed, we welcome it'.

He said he could not understand why the Governor has given Palaniswami a long gap of 15 days to prove his majority in the Assembly.

'Already there are reports of horse trading taking place in the AIADMK.

This long gap of 15 days will only lead to more horse trading', he claimed and urged the Governor to monitor it and ensure that such horse trading do not take place.
