STF recovers 6.9 kg pangolin scales from Odisha’s Ganjam district

Bhubaneswar: A team of STF with the help of Digapahandi forest officials arrested a wildlife criminal from the K Nuagaon Police station of Ganjam district and seized 6 kg and 900 Grams of Pangolin scale from his possession.
STF sources here on Thursday said that acting on a tip-off a STF team with the help of Digapahandi forest officials conducted a raid on Wednesday evening near Nakamundia village under K Nuagaon Police station of Ganjam district and arrested the criminal.
STF identified the accused as Prafulla Mallik @ Pari of Ram Guda village under K Nuagaon Police station area. During the search Pangolin scales weighing 6 kg, 900 grams and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.
The accused has been apprehended and handed over to Digapahandi forest officials under Berhampur Forest Division for necessary legal action on their end. An Inquiry is going on.
Since 2020, STF has seized as many as 27 leopard skins, 15 elephant tasks, 7 deer skins, 12 live pangolins, 30 kg 400 gm of pangolin scales, 2 leopard teeth, 29 leopard claws, 46 live wild parrots and arrested 65 wildlife criminals. (UNI)
