Train services both in SER and ER affected at busy Howrah station after two bogies of Kalka Mail derailed

Kolkata: Train services both of South Eastern Railway (SER) and Eastern Railway (ER) was affected at busy Howrah station after two coaches of an empty Kalka Mail derailed while entering into the terminus at the wee hours today.
There had been no casualty. Official sources said some 12 local emus of SER and 4 of ER have been cancelled so far causing stagnation of the commuters at different locations as well delayed of departure and arrival of many long-distance trains.
Many long-distance trains bound for Howrah was terminated at Santragachi, nearly 9 km from the terminus.
The derailment of the two bodies of the Kalka Mail happened around 0200 hours while the loco was two enterings into the Howrah terminus’ No 9 platform.
The authorities put off the connection around 06 00 hours today to lift the bogies into the track when the report arrived saying the normalcy was returning.
ER CPRO Nikhil Chakrbaroty said an inquiry began to ascertain the cause of the derailment. (UNI)
