New Delhi: AIIMS Student Association tendered an apology on Sunday over a viral video where the students are seen performing a skit on Ramleela, which has been flagged by many for hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.
“A video clip of a Ramleela skit by some students of AIIMS has been circulating on social media. On behalf of the students, we apologise for the conduct of this skit which wasn't meant to hurt anyone’s sentiments. We will ensure that no such activity takes place in future,” a statement from the student body read.

The people found the content of the skit objectionable which depicted a modern spin to the Ramayana. The skit of the mythical saga was chastised by social media users as they said that in its attempt to become humorous, the students have actually insulted the Hindu religion.
Multiple clips of the skit went viral on social media. In one of the viral clips, the Shurpanakha character is seen singing 'Tu cheez badi hai mast mast' to Lakshman. Also, she is seen responding to Lakshmana with ‘Tu janta nahi mera bhai kaun hai (Do you know who my brother is?)" after Lakshmana cuts her nose. (UNI)
