Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu): In a tragic incident, a 32-year-old cameraman of ‘Puthiya Thalaimurai,’ a Tamil news channel was killed on the spot and three other journalists injured when a car in which they were travelling rammed into the road median and turned upside down at Nanguneri here early on Thursday.
Police said the deceased Shankar, along with Puthiya Thalaimurai’s Tirunelveli reporter Nagarajan and two other cameramen, namely Narayanan and Vallinayagam were returning to their native place after a special interview with former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan at Thiruvananthapuram over Chandrayaan 3 mission, when the accident occurred.
Shankar, who himself was driving the car lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the median.
The injured were rescued from the mangled car and admitted to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital.
Tirunelveli District Collector K.P.Karthikeyan visited the hospital and enquired about the health condition of injured journalists.
Nanguneri police have registered a case and are investigating. (UNI)
