Two Akali Dal workers die in clash with Cong supporters in Moga

Moga: Two Akali Dal supporters were killed and another injured when a clash took place between Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Congress workers while campaigning in ward No 9 of the town last night.
According to the FIR about 10-12 persons came in vehicles and questioned Akali Dal workers why they are campaigning against the Congress candidate. In the meantime, Congress supporters ran over the Akali Dal workers with their vehicles. Akali Dal worker Harminder Singh alias Babbu died on the spot while Jagdeep Singh alias Bhola, former sarpanch of Tarewala village, succumbed to his injuries in Ludhiana hospital.
A deputation of Akali Dal workers, led by former minister Tota Singh, demanded action against the accused persons. Moga SSP Harmanbir Singh Gill assured full justice.
Moga Police registered a case against a dozen persons and arrested three men, including Narinderpal Singh, husband of Congress candidate Paramjit Kaur. Police also impounded two vehicles.
The police have intensified the patrolling in all the polling wards. (UNI)
