UP: Mysterious viral fever claims lives of 40 children, CM Yogi rushes to Firozabad

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will rush to Firozabad on Monday afternoon to inspect the situation following reports of 40 people succumbing to viral fever during the past couple of days.
The CM has directed the Additional Chief Secretary Medical and Health to send special teams to Firozabad, Mathura and Mainpuri, while he will visiting Firozabad himself.
Officials here said that during his Firozabad visit, the Chief Minister will inspect and take stock of the ground reality of deaths.
Mr Adityanath has expressed grief over the deaths and directed the officials to provide medical facilities to the sick children admitted in the hospital.
According to data released by the health department, so far, 33 children have lost their lives in the district, while 150 are still admitted in the government hospital in which the condition of six children remains critical.
The CM will reach Firozabad at around 1300 hrs. He will meet the patients admitted in the State Medical College here and visit Sudama Nagar, the most affected area. At 1430 hrs, he will leave for Mathura.
Firozabad BJP MLA Manish Asija confirmed the Chief Minister's visit. DM Chandra Vijay Singh said that the district, municipal administration as well as the health department have made full preparations for the arrival of the Chief Minister.
Earlier, the CM had directed the health officials to send teams to Firozabad, Mathura and Mainpuri following reports of deaths due to viral fever.
The officials have been asked to make continuous efforts for the prevention of communicable diseases during the monsoon season. They also warned the people against water logging. (UNI)
