Kanpur: The local administration has said that action as per rules will be taken against Mayor Pramila Pandey for breaching the secrecy of ballot during polling for the third phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on Sunday.
Pandey has been accused of publicly sharing her picture while casting her vote in the EVM machine.
"In the picture she is seen casting her vote for a particular party," sources said.
Returning Officer of Kanpur Neha Sharma said that information has been received about Pandey breaching the secrecy of ballot at Hudson school polling station and action will be taken against under the election rules.
She has appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise while following the election rules.
It may be noted that taking a picture of the EVM machine while casting a vote is against the rules. (UNI)
