UP terror alert: Threat issued to blow up 10 UP railway stations, police on high alert

Meerut: A high alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh following a threat issued to blow up 10 railway stations and several religious places on November 26 and December 6, the police said on Wednesday.
Meerut City Station GRP Vijay Kant Satyarthi said the bomb disposal squad has been pressed into action at all the stations. He said that with the help of a metal detector, the baggage of passengers were also being checked amid a huge rush in the Diwali-Chhath season.
The anonymous writer said he will avenge the deaths of his jihadi comrades, according to the letter sent to the Superintendent of Meerut City Railway Station.
Before the 29th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid, the city of Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Khurja, Kanpur, Lucknow, Shahjahanpur and Prayagraj will be targeted, said the letter sent on Tuesday.
Intensive checking of every train passing through all the stations, whose names have been mentioned in the letter, is underway. Along with this, the security of religious places has also been increased and a report has been lodged against the writer in GRP police station.
Meerut Station Superintendent RP Singh said keeping in view the sensitivity, intensive checking of all the incoming trains is being done. (UNI)
