Rae Bareli (UP): A woman along with her two minor daughters jumped into a canal and committed suicide allegedly over family discord in Maharajganj area of Rae Bareli district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Wednesday.
Police sources said that Mohammad Ismail (28), a resident of Naya Purwa hamlet of Chandpur village, had a dispute with his wife Jaharum Nisha late on Tuesday night.
"Irked with the dispute Jaharum along with her two daughters 10-month-old Iram and Ayesha Bano (2) jumped in Chandpur canal," they said.
Police sources said that Jaharum informed her brother-in-law before leaving the house and took Ismail's mobile with her.
"The family members attempted to trace Jaharum and two kids, but failed after which a missing complaint was lodged at the police station on Wednesday morning," they said.
Police sources said that after much efforts the body of Jaharum was recovered near a bridge in Judai Ka Purwa, but there is no trace of two girls. "A team of divers has been called to search the two girls and a recue operation is being carried out. Jaharum's body has been sent for post mortem examination," they said. (UNI)
