Uttarakhand: House collapses due to heavy rain in Dehradun, 2 women, child killed

Dehradun: Two women and a child were killed when a house collapsed on Monday amid overnight heavy rain in the Uttarakhand capital here.

Rescue teams reached the spot and recovered all three bodies from the debris.

Local MLA and Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi and District Magistrate were both at the spot.

Additional District Magistrate, Finance-Revenue (ADM FR) Krishna Kumar Mishra said a person named Dinesh's house suddenly collapsed in Kath Bungalow Basti of Rajpur area along the Mussoorie road amid heavy rains since Sunday.

His 22-year-old wife and his sister Lakshmi (28) were killed along with his new born. They were found buried in the rubble.

The rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot and recovered the bodies, which were then sent for post-mortem.

DM Sonika was inspected the spot where a tree fell near a Sai temple. She also inspected the Sauda Saroli bridge and issued safety directions.
