Kolkata: After the city’s medical colleges, under another project of the Bengal Health Department, water ATMs are going to be installed in the district-level hospitals in the state. The project will immensely benefit a large number of people who visit the out-patient departments (OPDs) of these hospitals. The project will be implemented by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department. Especially during the hot summers, there is a crisis of water in many hospitals in the districts.
The project would be implemented in phases. In the first phase, water ATMs will be installed in various district hospitals where there is a crisis of purified drinking water. As per the plan, the sub-divisional hospitals and the block-level hospitals will also get these machines. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, also in charge of the Health Department, had instructed the senior officials of the department to solve the drinking water crisis at various State-run hospitals, following which a survey was conducted. The present scheme is a result of that survey. (UNI)
