Mangaluru: The Mangaluru police Sunday arrested expelled Hindu Mahasabha Karnataka State Secretary Dharmendra Suratkal and Rajesh Pavithran for a controversial statement and forgery.

Dharmendra had threatened chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and two other BJP leaders BS Yediyurappa and Shashikala Jolle, over the issue of demolition of temples as per 2009 Supreme Court order.

Dr Kumar said Dharmendra and Pavithran were expelled from the Hindu Maha Sabha two years back for their objectionable behaviour in the organization.

Yesterday, Pavithran had extended support to Dharmendra's comment of "we did not spare Mahatma Gandhi, who are Bommai, Yediyurappa and Jolle? They are unworthy of any mention."

Dharmendra had made these remarks in a press conference condemning the inaction of the state government led by the BJP.

"When we didn't spare Mahatma Gandhi & killed him to safeguard attack on Hindus, what makes u think we will spare you?".This provocative speech was made by Akhila bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha leader Dharmendra to @BSBommai @BSYBJP & @ShashikalaJolle over temple demolitions in K'taka. pic.twitter.com/ss5f6jNOng
