Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Sunday termed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's claim that his party wanted an alliance with BSP baseless and said that he should worry about his party first which is lying scattered.
Talking to the reporters at BSP state headquarters, Mayawati said, "Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement that I did not replied to his party's offer or I didn't talked to them on forging an alliance with the BSP in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and to make me the Chief Minister is completely baseless and there is not even an iota of truth in it. In fact it reflects their hatred towards BSP."
She said, "Though all opposition parties should review the fatal results of UP polls, such baseless things should not be said. The comments made by Rahul Gandhi on Saturday regarding BSP and specially its national president reflects the feeling of inferiority and casteist mentality towards Dalits and other backwards along with BSP."
Mayawati said that not only this before Rahul, even his father Rajiv Gandhi in a bid to defame and weaken BSP went on to term Kanshi Ram as an agent of the CIA.
"Rahul keeps on alleging that BSP president is afraid of CBI, ED and Income Tax and therefore she is soft against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). There is not an iota of truth in it. In reality we won cases related to these agencies not with the help of any party, which had been in power at the center, but through the Supreme Court against all the governments."
She said that Congress' record of fighting a political war against BJP had been very lax and lackadaisical.
"We don't see Congress, while it was in power and now when it is out of power for a long time, fighting against BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and company while heartedly. Whereas BJP is eager to end the Constitution and create a China type system by making the country not only Congress-free but free of the opposition," she said.
The BSP supremo said, "Before saying anything about BSP, Rahul should have a close look at his house which is lying scattered and of which BJP is taking full advantage. Instead of worrying about others it would be better for him to worry about his own party."
It may be noted that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday claimed that due to pressure from Central agencies, BSP supremo Mayawati did not forge a pre-poll alliance with Congress in the recently concluded Assembly polls in UP.
''I gave a message to Mayawati ji to cobble an alliance with our party. We offered her the CM post. Despite our several attempts, she did not respond. Why ? Because of CBI, ED and Pegasus she gave an open way (to BJP in UP). These agencies control 'political system'," the former Congress president said after releasing a book titled "The Dalit Truth" ( The battle for realizing) Ambedkar's vision at Jawahar Bhawan here.
He also accused the former UP Chief Minister of not raising the issues concerning the Dalits due to pressure from Central agencies. (UNI)
