Youth succumbs, toll in LS poll violence touches 9 in Kashmir

Srinagar: A youth injured during clashes on April 9 when polling was held in Srinagar Parliamentary constituency succumbed in a hospital this morning. With this, the death toll during the clashes on poll day has risen to nine in security force and police action in the Kashmir valley.
A 22-year-old Muzaffar Ahad Mir was injured when security forces opened fire on anti poll demonstrators at Barsoo in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal on April 9. The injured was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) where he succumbed today.
Muzaffar is the second youth killed in central Kashmir during the clashes while seven others died in Badgaml district on the poll day when about 150 security personnel were also injured in stone pelting on poll day when only about 7 per cent polling was recorded. Opposition National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah was elected from the seat. (UNI)
